Bread architecture..

How to create contrast???

*Positive and negative space
*Materials
*Formal properties
*Sterotypical view about architecture
*Function of architecture
*Scale/size
*Placement/ location
*Reaction/ interaction

I was thinking of using material that are not usually used for the making of architecture. With that thought, i thought of using BREAD to create one. Inspired from the bread protrait that i did last sem. Hmm... Maybe a folding architecture made of bread. OR ... a glowing bread architecture.

C o n t r a s t

Definition:

(noun) - A principle of art, contrast refers to the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.) in a piece so as to create visual interest, excitement and drama.

The colors white and black provide the greatest degree of contrast. Complementary colors also highly contrast with one another.

An artist can employ contrast as a tool, to direct the viewer's attention to a particular point of interest within the piece.

Glow in the dark architecture

Below is a list of glowing medium.

Photoluminescent paint
After special surface treatment, the photoluminescent pigment can be incorporated into paints as a kind of color additive to produce diverse types of photoluminescent paint, with the advantage of prompt and convenient application.

Photoluminescent Ceramic(enamel) Glaze
The photoluminescent glaze is composed of basic glaze, photoluminescent pigment as well as little additives and can be used directly to produce luminous products after complete blend. It can be applied to artistic tiles of internal wall, indication tiles, household ceramics as well as glass utensils.

Photoluminescent Film
This product is a new kind of self-emitting product. It has great storing - emitting energy by absorbing the natural or artificial light such as sunlight; fluorescent light etc. When exciting for 10 - 30 minutes, it can glow for 8 - 12 hours in the dark. The characteristic of it is nontoxic and free from any radioactive and it has effect of repeatedly absorbing-emitting light.

I went to google all the 10 listed themes and thought of possible ways to interpret each theme. During this process I stumbled across some images of stunning buildings and I felt that they were very well-designed, going beyond my expectations of how buildings could look like. They are inspiring and creatively crafted which spurs me to take up Architectural Contrast as my research topic. I am particularly keen in examining the formal construct of these buildings which show distinctive contrast in terms of various aspect, for instance – shape (curvy Vs straight), colour (bright Vs dull) , balance (heavy top Vs light base) etc…
